General Purpose and Scope (Summary):

The main priority for the Chief Compliance Officer (“CCO”) is to ensure the organization is in full compliance with all State and Federal rules and regulations related to the Mortgage Industry.  The Chief Compliance Officer is responsible for the overall development, oversight and administration of the compliance function, and the managing and directing of the compliance program for the company. 

Responsibilities / Functions:

  • Manage the Company’s Compliance Management System;
  • Track federal and state policy revisions and forecast possible impacts on internal compliance policies and Compliance Management System;
  • Ensure compliance policies and procedures related to State and Federal rules and regulations are current and comprehensive;
  • Design, test, and monitor all compliance policies and procedures;
  • Compile audit findings to identify trends and implement corrective action when necessary;
  • Design organizational best practices related to compliance;
  • Facilitate compliance training for employees, including both new hire and on-going training for existing employees;
  • Perform annual review of all compliance policies and procedures as required by federal law, prepare an annual written report for CEO outlining any material compliance matters and necessary means of resolution;
  • Design and conduct mock federal and state audits to test for compliance with applicable rules, regulations, and procedures;
  • Act as a liaison between the Company and external, independent audit and compliance companies/contractors;
  • Advise, and make recommendations to the CEO regarding the state of compliance at the company;
  • Other responsibilities as determined by the CEO

Personal Traits / Competencies:

  • Extensive knowledge of industry compliance, including state and federal regulations
  • Track record of successful experience interacting with regulators
  • Prior mortgage industry experience
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal skills

Technical / Computer Skills:

  • Microsoft Office

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
  • 5+ years as a compliance professional, including experience supporting a compliance program in the mortgage industry

Hours for position:

M-F 9am-5pm

This position may require frequent additional hours, at times on a daily basis; must be available to work additional hours on short notice as determined by management.
